Contrary to her polished appearance, Cassie is a very easygoing and carefree person. She wears her emotions very much on her sleeve (her positive ones, at least) and changes moods easily, though not generally without cause. She nearly always speaks her mind, for better or worse - she tends to lack tact and isn't always good at behaving in a way suited to serious situations. She genuinely does mean well and is actually quite good at picking up changes in others' behavior; she just isn't good at subtlety or thinking before she speaks, leading to some accidental insults and faux pas. She never really was one for dancing delicately around conversation; she prefers straightforward and candid discussion.

Despite her apparent lack of sensitivity, Cassie does care deeply about others and only ever wants to make them happy. She'll always drop whatever she's doing to talk with a friend or even someone she barely knows, and is very good at cheering people up; while she won't always know what to say in a solemn moment, she'll do her level best to make a depressed person laugh. She's very accepting and believes in seeing the good in anyone, no matter how withdrawn or abrasive they may be. She can't stand seeing people upset, and takes care of her friends the best way she knows how. This will sometimes lead to her neglecting her own emotional health to stop others from being concerned for her - still, she isn't good at hiding sadness for too long.
 
Cassie also tends to have a flair for the dramatic; she likes to exaggerate for humorous effect and is an excellent storyteller. She loves new experiences and will jump feet-first into anything that catches her interest - which isn't always the best idea. She doesn't think too far ahead and just kind of plows through whatever problems come her way, even when a more delicate approach might have been better. Despite the risks involved, her enthusiasm and confidence have brought her their fair share of exciting experiences, and she prefers getting herself out of trouble to being overly cautious.


  History  

Cassie was brought into existence, like all the other Dream People, by the Queen. Like many others like her, she wasn't entirely sure what to do with herself for a while, but she quickly came to the decision that she didn't need to do anything in particular - all the Queen wanted, as she knew, was for them to be happy.
So that's what she did. She spent her time chasing after whatever caught her fancy, enjoying everything the Dream World had to offer - socializing with the other Dream People, exploring the parks and streets and stores. Most of her interests were fleeting, but a few stuck with her - painting, astronomy, music, and reading, in particular. As far as she was concerned, nothing was too trivial or obscure to try.

Then, just when she felt she might be running out of things to do, the Dreamers arrived. She was thrilled to have new people to talk to, and welcomed each one with open arms. All of them had new and interesting things to say, and she was very curious to learn about the waking world, but she was somewhat saddened by what she heard from the Dreamers. The waking world seemed like a very cruel place, to her, to have made all these lovely people so sad. As she listened to more accounts of this unfamiliar place, her image of it grew somewhat less - there were good things there too, happy things - but she still had no real desire to go there. 

Since the arrival of the Dreamers, she has been happy to remain in the Dream World, although she is certainly delighted with all the extra company. As time has gone on, however, her natural curiosity and adventurous spirit have been warming her up to the idea of visiting the waking world. While she's content in her home, she wouldn't object to traveling outside of their little pocket of the universe - and she can't deny that she sometimes wonders what it would be like to have blood and not Dream Dust running through her veins.

She'd totally be that friend that's always down for a 2 a.m. excursion to McDonald's or something. Or the Dream World equivalent.
